Arctic sea ice at record low

http://www.earthtimes.org/climate/arctic-sea-ice-record/2189/

The Sea ice in the Arctic is melting fast. An amount the size of texas has disappeared into the ocean, increasing the levels of the sea. In the winter thin seasonal ice forms on top of the thick ice underneath. In the summer that ice disappears because of the warmer temperatures but the thick ice remains the same. Because of global warming the thick ice that is always there is starting to thin fast. Ocean levels are going to continue to rise and soon there won't be any more ice in the arctic. Something needs to be done to fix this. A global commitment from everyone would be a start. Switch to electic vehicles and cut back on buildings and plants that release harmful gases to the atmosphere so that our ozone layer will rebuild itself.

  1. I agree, this needs to be dealt with the highest concern. Cutting back on emissions in the air would help greatly but it would take much effort to get everyone to contribute. The fact there was a piece of ice that melted in the ocean means that we need to act fast.

  2. I agree with you and Bailey. We need to cut back on items that release harmful gases. This is a huge issue that needs to be dealt with now before its to late. The melting of the ice only a step in the chain of events the harmful gases cause. First is the Climate change some parts are hotter, which leads to the melting of ice. in parts like Canada were most of the polar bears live, ice is important. Polar bears need ice to survive. With the recent melt in population of bears has dropped. Making the Polar bear an endangered animal. Not to mention the rising water levels this can cause. This problem needs serious attention.
