Coal ash is a global problem!

Coal ash is an international problem. It's highly hazardous and it effects the environment and even us! This problem with coal ash ponds can only be avoided by switching to a renewable resource. These ash ponds leak dangerous chemicals into our groundwater and there is no known way to clean it up. :( The U.S. and China are 2 countries that have to deal with it because both have failed to regulate it well enough. If the link works, you can go to the page and look at pictures taken in China!

  1. While McCall has a valid argument that coal ash is a global problem, are China and the United States the only ones that have a huge issue with it because of failed regulations? If so, what regulations can we put on it? Many Republicans would debate that the government cannot meddle into a business and prevent them from putting the ash into ponds; instead stating that it is the business' choice were they locate their coal ash. Regulations for the environment unfortunately have to pass through the dreaded web of politics, where difference of opinion prevents anything from being accomplished.

  2. I think in our time some of the business' choices should be completely over turned considering how bad off the Earth is. If we fail to make environmental problems our problems then we fail to help the Earth who sustains us. We really have to take this into consideration because if we do not then it will continue to go downhill.

  3. This is a really big deal for our country and I strongly think that the US needs to start switching over to renewable resources. If they just transfer the people who work for this companies over to the renewable resource companies, no one would lose their jobs. It would also save the US a bunch of money and make it much healthier.
