Green Bulbs

Scientists have created new light b ulbs that are more energy efficient and have less impact on our enviroment. Alot of people think of the cool swirly light bulbs when some one mentions eco friendly lightbulbs. These ight bulbs are actually called LED lighbulbs. LED items are considered specialty item still, but at the end of this month 2200 Home Depot stores across the United States will carry these bulbs. These bulbs create the same amount of light per watt that your typical light bulb would create except the LED bulb lasts a whole lot longer. The color of the LED light is also different this light is more white opposed to being a yellowish light. I think that replacing a light bulb with an LED light bulb is just one more simple thing we can do for a step to a truly greener earth.

  1. I actually think this is a very good idea. If scientists could do little things like this to help keep the earth greener, I think it could make a big impact on the world. People just don’t see the little things that can make a big difference. It would be interesting to see how many LED lights are in the store now. I also wonder if people are buying more LED lights or the regular lights everyone has used for so long. I would like to keep an update on this to see if these new bulbs are really helping our environment or if they are not making that much of a difference.

  2. This may be a greater step to a greener earth but how do these LED light bulbs prove to be better and more energy efficient?

  3. Im sure they have ran test to prove that the LED lights are more efficient but, if you really think about it how many people would take the time to buy LED lightbulbs? ALthough this is a good idea, i just dont see this idea being carried out and used.

  4. This is a good idea, but i could see people not buying the LED lights because they might be a little bit more expensive or because they like their old light bulbs. I don't see this as a greater step to a greener earth because it's only a light bulb and i honestly doubt that enough people will decide to use the LED light bulb or will even know about it!

  5. i agree with the others on this. just b/c it says its energy efficient or safer for the earth, doesnt mean it really is. how are they disposed? are they way that they are disposed earth safe? what if one breaks, do chemicals disperse through the air and cause problems for the people near the bulb? those are some questions to think about.

  6. Even if the lights are more expensive they last longer so in the long run you are saving monet. I agree that not enough people know all about LED lights. But if Home Depot is starting to carry more then the idea will be out there more.

  7. I personally love these LED lights. They are the only bulbs my family and I buy. They last so much longer and are way cheaper in the long run. I think this is a great invention scientists have come up with. One problem there is though, I once learned that these bulbs do contain mercury and if they bust it could mess up the oxygen in a room and you have to let it air out. Have you read about any other possible dangers of them? or what can we do to prevent them?

  8. This is a good idea, but are American's really willing to pay more for a lightbulb? Unless educated on the effects this LED bulb can have, I don't see this happening.
