Swedish firm MyFuelCell has revealed the PowerTrekk Hydrogen Fuel Cell, set to release to the public this year. It can recharge electronics that are charged via a USB port. It weighs in at 8.5 oz, and is ready to go as soon as it is turned on. For it to generate electricity, it requires only a Hydrogen fuel cell, which can be purchased from MyFuelCell, and are inexpensive, and a tablespoon of water. Its only byproduct is water vapor. It is completely safe, and can even be taken on airplanes. It has an output of 5V, and any unused power can be stored lithium ion battery. It is believed to be able to generate 4 Watts of energy. The cases for the Hydrogen fuel cells will be implemented in a MyFuelCell recycling program.
This is interesting. Me and probably the rest of the world always have that problem of my phone or ipod dying when i'm somewhere without my charger so this fuel cell would be extreamly useful. Also the way it is able to save and use energy that was not used before seems very "eco friendly." I hope this becomes more popular in the future.
ReplyDeleteWow! Where can I get one? This sounds so awesome. It sounds very environmentally and economically friendly. Everyone could use a charger like this, to use in the car or on vacation. It seems to not hurt or effect the environment in any way, and its only byproduct is water vapor! It seems virtually safe, and healthy for everyone and everything involved. It seems like more companies need to be creating electronics like this!
ReplyDeleteI think this is a genius idea and it's about time someone invented something like this. It's perfect for camping trips and long road trips. iPod's and iPhone's are very popular and many people have them. I think this will sell, especially because it isn't harsh on the environment AT ALL!
ReplyDeleteI want one. Almost everyone I know has an ipod that has a USB port. This is really a brilliant idea. I charge my ipod at least once a day, and it would be great to know that i am saving energy since I do it so often.
ReplyDeleteThat is really neat! I wonder if you can buy the Hydrogen fuel cells in bundles for you wouldn't run out of those and I wonder how much the actual PowerTrekk Hydrogen Fuel Cell will be itself. It is always good to see a company put time and money into research that is helping the environment, then coming out with a product that everyone could use.
ReplyDeleteThat is an awesome thing! I know with my phone I am always worrying about it dying, so i charge it everytime im home. That would be great to have so i could save energy, while i charge it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jackie, my electronics always die and this is the easiest way to save energy and use almost none at the same time on tho go!
