A Russian company recently developed a disposable USB flashdrive, call Flashkus. It's made out of very little cardboard and can be torn off and handed to just about anyone. It's very low cost and you can personalize them by writing straight on the cardboard. USB's are often given away at merchandising fairs and conferences. Handing these out would be a very good marketing strategy because the company would definetly get some attention for them. However, I do not think it would be a good invention for students who often use them multiple times for many different reasons. I think it would suit a large company looking to give away products, and also for teachers to give to students who do not have a USB or for emergencies. The concept of these cardboard USB's is cool, but I don't think the general public would buy into the idea.

I think this is one of those things that is a good idea, but in reality it wont work. Yes, i do think its smart, but people that use them generally use them multiple times. Its a good thing to give away at a convention, but i know its something i wouldnt buy.
ReplyDeleteI do not like this idea, it is simply another product that we are using that fills our planet with garbage. Besides usually when working with a flash drive it is for a project, which would consist of multiple days or weeks work.
ReplyDeleteI do not understand who decided that this would be a good idea. Who uses a flash drive only once? And if you did, why would you just throw them away? You could purchase one with a low memory so it is not so expensive and then give it away if you really feel like you would never use it again. They are just not as practical as the producers would have liked.
