Kelsey Clifford: Ice sheet melting in the Arctic

This article is on the Antartica ice sheets and how they are becoming a problem due to global warming. Scientists have been have watching and taking data from this area for years and are now finding a problem with the ice. Because of global warming, the thick ice sheets are starting to melt at a rapid pase and scientists are saying that this will contribute to the rise of sea levels in the the next couple of years. The ice is being held back by land and scientists are worried that this problem will cause more than just the sea level rising a little bit. They are trying to come up with ways to slow down the melting process while they come up with other ways to protect the land and the people living near this ice. The ice melting will also cause a temperature change will cause more ice to melt and the cycle will continue to happen.

  2. Wow! That's neat. It's nature that is neat. Seeing the fact that the ocean levels are rising I think we should do more as inhabitants of this planet Earth. Maybe we should lower our carbon footprints or something of that sort so that we can lower the risk of us being endangered species within the next decade or so. Why didn't you include some plans on how we can fix this issue? I feel that that is as important if not more important as the realization of the problem if you ask me. Overall this is a good article and I am impressed with your presentation. Remember nature is neat as long as we preserve it because that's just the way it is.

  3. Wow, Jordan's comment is neat! Global warming should try to be reduced or it could have horrible consequences. If the ice caps continue to melt at this rate then ocean levels will rise to dangerous levels. If the cycle of the ice caps melting continues to occur it could be really bad. I am glad that scientists have started attempting to control global warming because it will help conserve the Earth for longer.

  4. Both David and Jordan's comments are so true. It's scary to think that within a short amount of time the human race could start becoming extinct because our land is going to start being covered by water. Everyone should really start taking a part in changing their living habits to be able to help and preserve our environment as much as possible. If we don't do something about this issue then we will run out of room to live and begin to die away. It's a good thing that people have actually started taking global warming seriously and that their are people who care enough to do something about it.
