Worldwide Drought

Tuesday a study released by the National Center for Atmospheric Research stated, that 30 years from now the entire world could be facing a drought unless greenhouse emissions are cut drastically. On average drought costs the U.S. 7-8 billion dollars a year. The predicted worldwide drought would cost 4 times that. Everywhere in the world except Russia, Australia, and Antarctica would face severe water shortage. All this is caused by the rise in greenhouse gases in the last century and a half. Will water one day not be a right but a commodity that is worth enough to die over???

  1. While the drought will be a global problem, there is a possibility we may not run out of water. The article states some regions will become wetter, but unfortunately that will not offset the drought. As Tim said, this would unfortunately increase fighting for water. This article should be an eye opener for some people though. Increased greenhouse gases are caused by things such as car emissions, coal burning and other air pollutants. People should really invest in things that offset the pollution like electric cars, to therefore offsetting the greenhouse gas emissions if they want to prevent the possibility of a global drought.

  2. This is an important topic because what will the world be like without water? There will not be a world. Even though it is unlikely to run out of water, global drought can still occur. The rise in greenhouse gasses will not go down unless people change their way of life. Changing to electric cars in the future may be the best way to reduce these emissions.Personally, i dont think people realize what will happend to this world if these emmisions keep rising.
