Tornado Season Intensifies

So far this year, tornadoes have killed 41 people, they have torn apart neighborhoods, houses and this past weekend the tornadoes took out an airport. Tornadoes have set the record this month, according to preliminary estimates about 250 tornadoes have touched down this month and more are still to come. Howard Bluestein a meteorology professor at the University of Oklahoma says this many tornadoes can and does happen, he states, "This isn't a sign that the world is about to end." On average in April of 1950 there were about 64 tornadoes which increased to about 163 in the year of 2005. It remains unclear partly because the lack of historical data and partly because of unpredictable nature of whether the number of tornadoes will increase in number or strengthen.

  2. Anyone who thinks that this is a sign the world is about to end is ridiculous. It's just weather. It can be crazy and unpredicatble. It's sad that so many lives were lost, however, I do not believe that this is a sign of the apocolypse.

  3. I'm glad i have never been stuck in a tornado. It is horrible that many lives have been lost while being in the middle of something like this. I think all of these natural disasters that have been happening over the past few months is a sign of the world coming to an end, maybe not now, but most definitely at some point in our lifetime.

  4. My family all lives in alabama and a huge tornado went through their neighbor hood. Fortunately, they were all okay but I really dont agree that all these tornadoes are a sign of the apocolypse.

  5. It is interesting that the number of tornadoes has increased so dramatically, but it is weather, which is predictably unpredictable.

  6. This isn't a sign the world is about to change. Weather patterns always change, you can never know exactly what the weather is going to do. I count myself lucky to have never been in a tornado, and I do feel that to have so many tornadoes in one month is strange, but its not the end of the world. Its just weather fluctuations. You cant always predict the weather.

  7. I agree that this is not sign of the world ending. That's just ridiculous. Even though it may be strange that the number of tornados has increased but that's just how weather is. It goes through phases and changes. This is definitely not a sign and just how the weather is.

  8. I agree about this not being a sign of the world ending. The weather is unpredictable and nobody knows what will happen each day. Its just coincidential that theres been a lot of tornados this year.

  9. It is really sad that so many people have lost their lives, regardless of if this is a sign of the world ending or not, people still lost lives and that should be the main focus.
