Workers began the process of repairing the cripped nuclear power station after the March 11th tsunami. The key is to bring the reactors under control to help stop the leakage of radiation. Soldiers have recently moved in to within 6 miles of the Fukushima Nuclear Power Station to search for those still missing after the disaster. This is the closest they have come to the plant since the natural disaster hit. Tokyo Electric Power has estimated that it may take the rest of the year to get the nuclear power plant back under control. The company has begun constructing tents at the entrance to the turbine building so workers can move in and out. Fans and filters are also being installed at the number 1 reactor to reduce radiation inside to one-twentieth of current levels within days. A spokesman for Tokyo Electric Power says that they want to suck out the air in the building and use the filter to remove the radiation from the dust.Japan seems to be starting the recovery process after the devastating natural disaster that hit that country. It sounds to me like they are trying to piece together a plan that has the best chance of salvaging the area affected by the March earthquake and tsunami. The sitation that Japan has been put into is extremely unfortunate and no country should have to deal with such a disaster. There is really nothing they could do to protect the power plant from this terrible disaster. I hope the situation is better than it seems but only time will answer this.
My heart goes out to everyone who is working on this project, and everyone that is living in Japan. My cousin just left the U.S. to go over to help repair Japan. I feel as if repairing all of the damage is going to take a while, but with eveyones help Japan can be back to normal in no time!
ReplyDeleteIt is horrible that this has happened but it couldnt be avoided, hopefully the recovery process is a smooth and quick one. But with all the radiation there is only so much that can be fixed, time to get to work..
ReplyDeleteIt is awful that this happened, and it is good that Japan is on the road to recovery. It is interesting how many earthquakes have occurred recently.
ReplyDeleteThis is terrible thing that happened, but at least Japan is on the road to recovery. It will probably take a long time for them to fully recover, but hopefully they can get things done quickly.
