Fish losing the sense of smell

This article states that fish are losing their sense of smell when they are in polluted waters. The pollutants being put into the water are causing them to lose their sense of smell which helps them find food and not be eaten. However, the fish regain their sense of smell when they are taken out of polluted waters and put in non-polluted waters. I think that fish in polluted waters should be taken out and put on better areas. This may be hard due to the large amount of fish in polluted waters. It would be hard to take all of the fish from a polluted area and put into a fresher area.

  1. The fish in the polluted waters are bad conditions because the water is bad. They can’t find there food unless they are put into cleaner water habitats. This seems highly unlikely but maybe we could bring the nice water to them. By this I mean that we should do our best to clean and keep clean the environment that these fish live in. I believe that this solution seems more reasonable than moving the fish to a new location. This way, you wouldn’t have to move all of the food and other necessities of underwater organisms with them. I enjoy fishing a lot and find this to be an interesting article.

  2. Everywhere around the world, pollution is a big problem. No matter where you go it’s always there. With waste, most people don’t know what to do with it. Therefore they get rid of it anywhere they can. If you think moving the fish to a different area, then you’re wasting your time. What you want to worry about is the pollution in the water.

  3. I think that removing all of the fish out of polluted areas would cause just as many problems as there are now. It would cause overcrowding.

  4. You cant remove all the fish and this will just cause more pollution because the people will know it wont harm anything

  5. I think moving them will be to costly, and potentially dangerous. Maybe move them temporarily until their waters can be cleaned.

  6. Moving them will make them confused about their natural habitat and they will never be-able to get acclimated to their surroundings.

  7. It’s sad to think that the waters are so badly polluted that a fish’s sense of smell is completely taken away. I think it’s weird that their sense of smell comes back after they place fish in cleaner water.

  8. I don’t think moving the fish out the polluted fish into a non-polluted water would help? It would solve the smell problem but now we have an overpopulation problem. I would say to clean the polluted lakes would be the right thing to do.
