Tijuana Sewage Spill Closes Border Beaches
Wednesday, March 20, 2013
Ultimately this Article is based off the re
occurring event, Oil Spills. Oil spills are one of the messiest impacts on our
environment and pose a threat to everything around it. The animals are impacted
widely, among the contamination of the water in it of itself oil spills are
beyond messy and damaging. This
particular Oil Spill was located in Tijuana, and resulted in the closing of all
beaches in the area near the Oil Spill. They reported the spill to be up to
100,000 gallons of oil. Unfortunately oil spills are not “surprising” and other
rivers and water areas that were not previously cleaned had an effect on
Tijuana’s current Oil Spill that resulted in closure of beaches. Possible
solutions would be finding machinery that would help progress the process of
cleaning up faster, or having a better watch on the Oil Companies to prevent
future Oil Spills. The barriers to these solutions are ultimately money, time,
and effort. Money is an issue in which is parallel to the heavy machinery
needed in wanting to clean up the oil spills fast and efficiently. Time and
effort are a catalyst in the basic reaction of being careful at the oil
company’s, keeping eye on them, and making sure mistakes are not made that
result in the Oil Spills. My opinion is that they need to care more about their
environment, and need to know the negative aspects that tag along with Oil
Spills.
Here’s an eerie video of beach goers
swimming and fishing despite the spill:Video
