The not so Great Lakes
There was a recent test of The Great Lakes. There has been an increase in pollutant toxics. A nationwide survey has found that on average the toxin rate has decreased by 3%. Showing that The Great Lakes is lagging behind the rest of the nation. Nitrates and pesticides from municipal wastewater treatment plants and agriculture account for most of the toxic surface water discharges to the Great Lakes Basin. This means we must focus on this area to help bring it to the standard toxin level in water for the US. To help lower the toxins and see exactly where it is coming from the EPA has put into affect a law which forces companies near The Great Lakes to show what they have been dumping or using in the lakes. Since The Great Lakes are the biggest lakes in America I find it very important to help lower the toxin level. These lakes affect many states and is essential for thousands of different species of both plants and animals, keeping it safe is very crucial.
