Professor David Kimbro and his team of scientists study what
factors allow invasive species to survive and succeed in their new habitats, or
die and fail. Knowing these things can help prevent the destruction of
ecosystems, or help to find ways the invasive species could help out its new
environment. Kimbro says that not all invasive species are bad, and that some
are needed in their ecosystems. He believes that they are like a double-edged
sword; something you should treat with care. Kimbro, currently stationed in Nahant,
collects research on the local marine life, to help us better understand the
diversification of the ecosystem.
