Sun Storm Forecast: Tiny Chance of Havoc
The sun storm caused by the sunspots emitting solar flares in 1859 caused Earth’s electricity and wires to overload, surprising many telegraph operators. This wasn’t a normal solar flare, scientists called this a coronal mass ejection where billions of protons and electrons are shot 1 million miles per hour from the sun and happened to hit Earth. What if such a storm hit today in the 21st century? With as much technology as there is today, if everything just overloaded, power could be out for weeks or maybe even months to years. This can happen today and can’t be stopped the sun is at the crest of its 11 year sunspot cycle, the only thing we can do is be prepared and maybe turn all power off worldwide before such a thing hits to lessen the devastation. I personally think that this would let human beings learn to live without technology for a while. As much as I could not do it, this really can not be stopped, and if it happens while I’m still alive, that sucks.

I agree that it would really suck if this happened in our lifetime, and I’m not sure if humans would be able to survive weeks or months with no technology. We are all too dependent on technology in today’s society.
ReplyDeleteThe sad truth is, humans couldn't survive without technology. We are all too dependent these days on it.
