Australia literally on fire



The Australian bureau of meteorology was forced to add a new color to their weather map because of astonishing heat. Purple was placed on the map to represent the head of 129.2 degrees Fahrenheit, or 54 degrees Celsius. "The scale has just been increased today and I would anticipate it is because the forecast coming from the bureau's model is showing temperatures in excess of 50 degrees," said David Jones, head of the bureau's climate monitoring and prediction unit. This heat also comes with a high risk of fire, which has already struck. Australian officials are labeling these risks and threats as “catastrophic”

  1. This could be very bad for Australia. This heat could cause many fires in dry places. It is a good thing that the meteorologist added the new color to the radar so that Australians will know to evacuate the specific “Hot Spots” before a fire breaks out and possibly harms the citizens. These high heat temperatures causing fires are probably going to become very common because Mr. Jones said that they are beginning to have high temperature days more often. Hopefully the people of Australia take advantage of this new feature the meteorologist have provided. This was added to the radar to help keep the people safe.

  2. Well now they can avoid the hot areas but what if the whole country became purple... what then? also why purple? why not black or some other dark sinister color.

  3. After reading this article it poses a threat to Australia, majorly for fires due to the fact that the heat is drastically increasing and the fact that it is dry. Climate change is having a major affect on the environment. I believe that these rise in temperatures are having harsh affects on the water, and vegetation in Australia. But honestly, how can we help fix this? Other than the inhabitants of Australia becoming acclimated to their new climate levels.

  4. What is causing Australia to get this hot? Global warming doesn’t have that much effect on the temperate to increase it that much. Also can anything survive on that?
