In the middle of the Mojave Desert
there is a massive concentrated solar thermal power plant being built, and if
everything goes successfully, will be the largest in the world. The plan for
this power plant is to have 300,000 mirrors directing the sun’s energy toward
three towers, which will create 392 megawatts of electricity, which is enough
electricity to power 140,000 U.S. homes.
The complication is that even though solar power is cleaner and a more
sustainable energy to say coal, creating a power plant of this scale will
forever alter the natural environment.
This is pretty cool. I think this is a great use of space since there is a lot of sun in the desert. I think that this will be the start of a good use of space and resources. I hope to see more of this secondary power source. This is a way that we could use and produce less carbon dioxide. When this becomes more relevant to people of our time we will be in a cleaner and healthier environment. I hope this takes off as the start of something awesome.
