More Intense North Atlantic Tropical Storms Likely in the Future

Researchers from the University of Iowa have predicted that hurricanes and other tropical storms are going to become more frequent throughout the next century. The problem with this is that storms like Hurricane Sandy have destroyed communities all over the New Jersey/Long Island area in the northeast, and if they will become more evident then the damage across the eastern seaboard could be well over catastrophic. A proper solution to this theory would be the opening of a formal study of future hurricanes in the eastern United States and striving for accurate information. As a previous resident of Long Island, New York, it pains me to see my family and the families of my friends suffer from severe hurricanes such as Sandy, so in my opinion this study could be the best chance in preparing for even more destruction that could be heading our very way.

  1. I completely agree with you Jason! I believe that if our country has the technology to detect these catastrophic events we should also be able to set a prevention plan. There's no use just sitting around and waiting for these detrimental storms to come our way if we already know that they are coming. I wonder why measures such as these have not been taken yet. I feel that the government must increase interest in preventing this damage before it happens. The safety of the citizens should be our country's top priority.
