No Water for Brazil

The northeast part of Brazil is in the middle of one of their worst droughts ever it has not seen these conditions for almost 50 years. The drought has hurt the cotton and corn crop and has left cattle and goats starving to death. Hydro powered stations are in danger of blackouts which could slow economic growth in agriculture. The government has intervened slightly by offering credit to substance farmers but have made no calculations of the cost this drought has had on Brazil. I did some research and found that a possible cause for the decreased amount of precipitation is the clear cutting of rainforests, becase they cause more precipitation. The area effected had that done to its rainforest while the central part of Brazil yielded a good corn harvest and a new record for soybean harvest. http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=worst-drought-in-decades-hits-brazil

  2. This a sign that other parts of the world should stop taking water for granted. We only have so much of it, its time that we care for it. Or we are just going to end up like the northeast side of Brazil. Let's take care of our Lakes, Rivers, Streams, Ponds, and Oceans. They are one of a kind and nonrenewable.
