24 children in eat China have been sent to the hospital for lead poisoning. Over 280 have been tested and most have high amounts of lead in their blood. This is because of China being the worlds lead consumption of lead batteries, and having battery making factories nearby despite laws of factories being within 500 meters of residential areas. One boy has been diagnosed with 330.9 micrograms of lead per liter in his blood, when 100 mcg per liter is enough to impair brain development. There is said to be lead pollution contaminating the children. The factories are reportedly shut down, but I think China owes the children funding for future medical bills along with future crackdowns on where factories are built.
