Cleanup crews working on the Fukushima Nuclear Plant and areas around it have been allowing the radioactive water they are using to spray down buildings to run off into the soil and rivers. Reports also say that contaminated soil and debris is being dumped into rivers. The supervisors have been telling the workers how to handle the waste. Worse yet, the workers seem to know that they are breaking the rules. This raises questions about the affect the waste will have on local communities in the future. This may not only affect the Japanese, but it could eventually also cause problems worldwide as the radioactive waste enters our oceans. The workers responses were that the work could never be completed if they followed the strict rules about safety.
