The U.S. Fish and Wildlife services announced that they may be removing the caribou from endangered species protection. This was brought on by anti-environmental law firms and snowmobile associations. They say that the population in Idaho is insignificant and therefore not worthy of our protection. This turns out to be the only caribou population in the lower 48 states. Caribou once ranged all over the northern U.S. but have been for the most part wiped out. Scientists in Canada and America have decided that the population there is significant and definitely worth out protection. We cannot allow these animals to go extinct, and action must be taken to ensure their survival.

I think that the Caribou should remain on the list even thought they have increased in population. Now that they are off the list it is likley that they will become hunted and put back on it again. Caribou should be kept a watch on until they regain their population all over the northern 48 states. Action should be made and protection to get the population stable and back to how it was before they became endangered. I agree with Katie and her ideas. The hunting laws should stay strict for the time being and fines should be raised if over the limit. Sport hunting should not get out of hand at times like this.
